Codex + Game Studio: A Great Tool for Making Games

· 1 min read

Lately I’ve been using Codex and Claude Code to make games. Nothing big — just browser-based mini-games. I tried a bunch of tools and combinations, and the setup I keep coming back to is Codex + the Game Studio plugin.

Sure, Claude Fable 5 is more powerful, but it’s not available anymore. So for now, if you’re already using Codex, give Game Studio a shot.

Installing the Plugin

Simple: search for “Game Studio” in the Codex plugin marketplace and click install.

What Game Studio Can Do

1. Game UI

The UI that comes out of Codex + Game Studio is surprisingly polished compared to raw AI-generated game interfaces.

2. Phaser-Based 2D Games

This is where I’ve spent most of my time. Phaser is a well-known browser game engine with a large community. With AI assistance, spinning up a 2D game feels almost effortless.

3. 3D Games

I experimented with one 3D game, just to test the waters. It works — not groundbreaking, but solid. The game UI in particular looks really good.
