I spent the past couple of days looking into making games with AI. Lots of people have been using AI to build games for a while now, but dedicated AI game-making products are still rare. That said, as AI coding, image generation, and 3D capabilities keep improving, the demand for AI-powered game creation will only grow — and so will the number of products serving it.
Users
Broadly, there are two types.
The first is professional game creators — people who make games for a living. This is also the most commercially valuable user group. But these users won’t be satisfied with AI-generated games as they are today. If you’re targeting this group, don’t bother building a comprehensive AI game editor unless you have a strong team and serious funding.
The second — and much larger — group is hobbyists. People who want to build a game to show off on social media, or let friends play for free. This is the real market today.
The Current Landscape
1. Desktop Agents
Claude Code and Codex.
These are currently the primary tools for making games with AI.
Whether you’re building a small game from scratch or generating assets and copy for a larger project, this is the go‑to approach.
I spent a couple of days with Codex + Game Studio plugin and made several small games. Simple, but the results were surprisingly good.

2. AI Game SAAS
Astrocade is the standout here — arguably the best product in this space right now.
It’s an online platform where you Vibe Code your way through game creation and publishing. They’ve basically turned themselves into the TikTok of mini‑games.
3. Game Asset Tools
There are many small tool sites in this category, aimed at professional game developers looking to generate specific images, 3D models, and other game assets. Since the demand is concrete and recurring, these tools have decent paying user bases.

Will Talking About AI Again Lead to UI Designers Losing Their Jobs?
After building AI UI Designer, I initially believed UI designers would disappear—but I've gradually realized that isn't quite right. Small teams can skip a dedicated design role with AI, but the UI design step itself is still essential. For large teams, the designer's aesthetic judgment is something AI simply cannot replace.
