AI Created GEO, and GEO Revived an Old Business: Corporate Website Building

AI gave birth to GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), and GEO in turn revived the ancient business of corporate website building. When AI-generated websites seemed poised to eliminate WordPress, the token cost of building a full CMS made traditional solutions more cost-effective.

Among the profitable AI SaaS products, website generation is a notable category. I used to think the users in this space were mainly building AI tool websites — after all, this direction has been quite lucrative over the past couple of years.

Recently, however, I’ve noticed something different.

A growing number of people are using AI tools to build corporate websites — marketing-oriented ones. Their goal: GEO.

AI created GEO, and GEO has revived the old business of corporate website building.

Add to that the increasing trend of businesses going global, doing cross-border trade, and launching cross-border e-commerce, and it’s clear that GEO and corporate website building will have a massive market in the coming years.

Many people thought that old stalwarts like WordPress would gradually be eliminated by AI. But that assumption may have been premature.

Generating a website with AI consumes tokens. For a simple few-page site, it’s manageable. But for corporate websites and cross-border e-commerce sites, the ability to frequently update content and products is essential. What you need is not just a simple website, but a full-fledged CMS.

If you ask AI to generate a CMS — even the simplest one — the token cost will ultimately far exceed that of using free WordPress plus a few dozen dollars’ worth of premium themes and plugins.

And that’s not even counting the time cost.
